Wildlife Cancer Evolution

Research Group

The Wildlife Cancer Evolution research group (WiCanE) studies the ecology and evolution of cancer in the tree of life to identify cancer resistant mechanisms potentially applicable to human health.

We use a multi-disciplinary approach (evolutionary biology, oncology, ecophysiology, bioinformatics, genetics, cell biology) combining large scale comparative analyses, experimental studies in the lab as well as cell culture experiments and field studies.

Our team is composed of experienced group leaders (Dr. Giraudeau and Dr. Vincze), skilled engineers along with dynamic PhD and post-doctoral students bringing together a stimulating and inclusive research group performing state of the art research.

We are based at the LIttoral, ENvironment and Societies (LIENSs) laboratory, La Rochelle university, France with national and international collaborators (Poland, UK, Spain).
